As individuals our identities are shaped by a number of different factors, from the physical to the psychological. Who we are is defined by more than just what we are born with, but the elements of our lives that establish, challenge, and define our character. The strongest influences on my personal identity are the people around me, thus I have decided on my friends and the interests we share (specifically country music) as the focal point of my identity collage. Many of my friends and I work at the same golf course and cranberry bogs throughout the spring, summer, and fall which means that we spend a lot of time in the company of one another over the course of the year beyond just hanging out as friends. Being together so much, and in such different social settings means that we understand how the members of our group will act in a variety circumstances. We understand each others character not only when having fun, but how we act at work and in school, and over the years have learned the different dynamics of one another’s personalities, as well as our own; thus I will seek to define my own identity as shaped by the individuals I call my friends.
You have a lot of good ideas here. Do you think, since you want to include the theme of country music, you could include actual audio in the collage? Also, what have you learned from these friends? How have they shaped you? These will be the themes that hold your collage together and tell the story.
